rosette smallThe John Dunam Society Organization

We are the overriding organization of the John Dunham Society.  We oversee membership, community outreach, staffing, policies, and directives of the Society.

We are not a 501(c) under the regulations of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, meaning that our operations and membership are not tax-exempt, non-profit.  The reason for this is that our Society is entirely operated/funded directly through membership fees and voluntary member research - so we pay for ourselves.  Oftentimes, our administrative costs exceed our membership fee intake, but we are not in a business of making money, we are in the genealogical research business for the descendants of Deacon John Dunham.  Although our membership process seeks to emulate the process of the Mayflower General Society's practices of decendancy proof through valid documentation, we want the process to be exciting and educational for applicants - we want genealogy research to be fun!

What we do:

  • We operated a full-scale membership website at The John Dunham Society (.com) where individuals who believe they may be descendants of Deacon John Dunham may apply for membership.
  • Create a membership-based genealogical society.
  • Promote genealogical research and education.
  • Make genealogy interesting and fun
